Our studio is still in a bit of a transitional phase right now. But we still recorded a podcast, just like we said we would. Today’s episode is powered by listener comments. Thanks to Nathan, Colin, David, Laura and yarnspinner for their feedback. Here’s the list of for-sale items I mentioned towards the end of the show:
iRiver
Giant Squid microphone
XBox 360
Tascam FW-1884 mixer
Canon camcorder
Gemini direct drive turntable
Radio Shack integrated stereo amplifier
newerTech 250 GB external hard drive/usb (and firewire) hub
e-Mail us if you’re interested in purchasing any of these items.
I’m too tired to make real shownotes and I asked Twitter to make me some album art but Twitter failed. So, there’s no album art. And you can blame Twitter for that.
The song at the end of the show is called “Sunny Day” by Somnistatic. You can hear more songs (and even buy some!) at the Somnistatic Bandcamp page.
Two items in one month. It’s like two for the price of one. Double your value. That’s how we roll. We covered the video we released as item 30. Friend of the show Ben in Australia is going through a rough time right now. He let us know through Twitter how much he appreciated listening to our show. That’s why this item is dedicated to him. Ben was a guest on our old show, and that made me wonder if we should revive our old show? (Where the hell is the Daves Caldberank, already?!?!?!) We talked about how our upcoming trip to Chicago has been booked and that most of the logistics have been worked out. I brought up my latest scheme to finance the purchase of an iPad. Jen’s been sick. We talked about why. Then, we played (edited in) a song we recorded a few years ago. After that, it was pretty much all over.
I killed our toaster. So we went on a quest to get a new one. Thanks to Colin for taking our raw footage and turning it into something watchable. Music heard in the video is by Dommin.
It’s a gray and rainy Sunday, perfect for recording a lazy-day kinda non-live podcast. We announced Jen’s new podcast project and did some wondering about the validity of the show’s name. We picked up some sandwiches earlier in the day from Subway. Jen thinks it was more than just her sandwich that was “toasted.” We joined the Internet pile-on over the “new” Zodiac signs and wondered if GeminiDragon may now be in need of a name change. We covered a story about a new law prohibiting Internet impersonators. Then we moved on to how hackers celebrated Kim Jong-Un’s birthday by hacking North Korean Twitter and YouTube accounts. We followed that up with a cool song by The Famous. We wrapped up the program with a top-ten list of addictive sounds. Don’t forget to vote in our highly interactive poll:
We were live on New Year’s eve! We experienced the usual technical difficulties getting started. I wondered why it is that humans decided to have the year start in the middle of winter instead of the summer. We replied to questions that we received from Colin and Les. We discussed this year’s most-wanted gift cards. We paused to fix a minor technical problem with Jen’s headphones. Jen had a story about the Wikileaks guy’s OkCupid profile. Colin joined us via the Skypes. We ambushed him by asking him his predictions for 2011. Then we went over a list of the year’s worst songs. We had some fun reading spam messages. We went through a list of YouTube’s most-viewed videos of 2010. We played an appropriate song by Tin Pan. Since he wasn’t listening earlier, we also got to ambush Medros with his predictions for 2011. Then we finished up with a list of the top ten Twitter trends of 2010.
After that, there’s some special bonus audio from the live pre-show.
