Item 27 – Hoarders bingo

GeminiDragon27We’ve been gone for over two months but we come back strong with some on-air troubleshooting of the audio levels. We provide an explanation and some thoughts on why it’s been so long. I made an “official” announcement about my new personal website. We covered our great shed reorganization/yard sale of 2011. I briefly mentioned that I played an open mic in March. Then we talked a lot about TV shows we’ve been watching: “Hoarders,” “Hoarding: Buried Alive,” “Deadliest Catch,” and “Sister Wives.”

Nice to hear the two of you in my earbuds again! I found that situation you discussed about the polygamists really interesting. Messed up, but interesting. I can’t quite see the illegal part of what they’re doing. The law only counts one marriage, so technically it sounds like he’s married, but cheating on his wife with three other women. They don’t care and he’s supporting the kids, so what’s the big deal? We don’t throw everyone who cheats on a spouse in jail. Why should this be any different.

Besides, if they were all consenting adults when they entered into this arrangement and they choose to stay in it without any coercion, it seems wrong to break them up since there isn’t even any harm done. There are people that beat their wives that don’t go to jail because the wife won’t press charges. That’s ok, but we have to save people from a life choice we don’t like? Sounds ridiculous. Guess that’s where logic gets you when the law is involved. Oh, well. I hope things turn out for the best in this situation.

Another fine episode of the former Hyper Nonsense.

I always enjoy hearing you two discuss the activities of fake reality TV families. A great substitute for real life!

After watching American pickers, most of the people the guys visit are just one emotional trauma away from being on hoarders. They are hoarders with better stuff and more storage space.
